Modernize familiar dishes

Standing for a long time in the freezer containing processed foods at Bach Hoa Xanh store near Binh Thanh market (Tan Phu), Ms. Truong Hong Ha flipped through products of many different brands. Finally, she chose the Panko breaded basa fish product.

Ms. Ha said that last week she took her child to a friend's house in District 3 and was offered fried basa fish, her 6-year-old son liked it and said it was much tastier than the breaded fish he ate at the restaurant. quickly or at the school gate. "At that time I asked my friend to buy it" - Ms. Ha shared.

Not only Ms. Ha, in the past few months, but many consumers in Ho Chi Minh City have also been introduced to chosen breaded basa fish products, with many different flavors such as Tempura basa, breaded basa fillet, ba sa Karaage, ba sa formed, ba sa finger... This is basa fish processed with pre-mixed flavors, buyers just need to put it in the microwave to eat immediately.

According to Mr. Vo Duc Khoa, domestic sales director of Go Dang Joint Stock Company (GODACO) - the supplier of the above-mentioned basa fish "fast food" product, the company has just introduced instant products from basa fish. It has been released to the domestic market for about 6 months but has received very positive feedback from consumers, many retailers have placed orders to include it in their systems.

Therefore, instant basa fish products are available in many stores of Bach Hoa Xanh, Big C... and are constantly being expanded.

According to Mr. Khoa, the company's processed basa fish products have ingredients from closed-farmed basa fish and are processed according to European standards.

The company also invested 30 million USD to build an instant basa fish processing factory according to international standards with a capacity of 15,000 tons/year. Before appearing in Vietnam, these products have been sold to demanding markets such as the US, Japan, Europe, and the Middle East for three years.

Returned to Vietnam because... the Japanese

Mr. Nguyen Van Dao (Founder, and Chairman of GODACO) said that more than a year ago he went to Japan to survey the market to see how the company's 10 instant basa fish products brought here were evaluated by consumers.

During that trip, Mr. Kan Noboyoshi - director of Japan's SSC Company - told Mr. Dao: "Your instant basa fish product is very delicious. I recommend it to businesses in Switzerland to import and sell in Asia." Europe. In my country, Japanese people must eat something delicious first before exporting it. Why can't Vietnamese people eat such delicious food?"

Mr. Dao said that before, he thought that basa fish was too familiar to Vietnamese people, so he did not think about selling it in the domestic market. But from a statement from Mr. Kan, he decided to bring his products back to the Vietnamese market. However, to have products that suit the tastes of domestic consumers, we must also go through a process of research and exploration.

At the factory in Ben Tre province, there are currently Japanese and American experts in charge of mixing spices for the US and European markets, so when deciding to bring this product to serve Vietnamese consumers, the company Hire a group of Vietnamese culinary experts to research ingredients and spices according to Vietnamese tastes.

After a long period of preparation, the company officially launched to consumers. Directly listening to many housewives' responses after trying it, Mr. Dao was excited when many customers shared that "it tastes better than fried chicken at fast food restaurants".

Supermarket systems in Ho Chi Minh City also quickly received products to introduce to consumers.

From this success, Mr. Dao said he is thinking of opening a fast-food restaurant system with dishes from seafood and basa fish that meet international standards for Vietnamese people.

Reason: many experts confirm that the nutritional value, food safety, and price of fast food from basa fish will be better than chicken meat sold in foreign stores in Vietnam.
